Fostering greater transparency and understanding at the Department For Education
Board meetings are secretive, closed events, right? To counter this impression, the Department for Education decided to hold a live meeting of the Board – and invite everyone within the department to attend, via their PCs and information hubs. Comshows made it all possible, setting up the meeting with trustees and an audience of 120 in Westminster, then broadcasting via the web to 2,500 members of staff. We made an opening video featuring staff comments which helped set the agenda and inform discussions.
The audience was able to participate live, posing questions via a chat room. An on demand version of the programme was made available just hours after the event, uploaded onto the staff intranet.
The result? A perception of greater openness and transparency – and better mutual understanding.
